Privacy Policy

1. Who operates Weektable

Weektable is operated by Carl Isak Knox, referred to in this policy as “Weektable,” “we,” “us,” or “our.” Questions and privacy requests may be sent to isakknox@gmail.com.

This policy covers Weektable in the United States. Weektable is a meal-planning service, not a healthcare provider, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

2. Information we collect

Account and profile information

Name or display name, email address, authentication identifiers, an optional profile image, a social handle you choose, household name, role, default servings, and account settings. Account settings include your separate, optional choices for “Product updates and app releases” and “Surveys and tips.” We retain an audit history of each choice or withdrawal, including its category, status, date and time, source screen, and applicable notice version. Your email address, authentication identifiers, and email choices are not shown in Social or shared kitchens.

Meal-planning and kitchen information

Weekly plans, selected recipes, servings, meal status, pantry items and quantities, estimated best-by dates, grocery lists, purchase status, inventory history, and planning preferences such as difficulty, price, effort, and nutrition tiers.

If you accept an invitation to a shared kitchen, its members may view and edit the kitchen's existing and future weekly plans, groceries, pantry, week-level planning preferences, dietary restrictions and allergy settings, and macro summaries. Every member can read the full recipe snapshot stored with a meal placed on one of those weeks. Kitchen membership alone does not make a private recipe source discoverable or plannable. Source access belongs to the creator, a friend the creator explicitly shares it with while that relationship remains eligible, or everyone after the recipe passes public review. Your personal Cookbook membership, recipe ratings and reasons, and “Never recommend” choices remain personal to your account.

Dietary and nutrition information

Dietary restrictions, allergy settings, disliked or excluded ingredients, prioritized ingredients, nutrition goals, calculated macro estimates, and interactions that may reveal food or wellness preferences.

Recipe and community information

Private recipes, recipes submitted for public use, ingredients, quantities, directions, creator credit, confirmation that you have the right to publish, ratings and rating feedback, Cookbook saves, “Never recommend” selections, friend requests and accepted friendships, audience choices, cooking activity you explicitly share, recipe and activity comments, blocks, reports, and moderation history. A recipe is public only when you explicitly choose to publish it and it passes the applicable review process. Cooking activity is not published automatically when you plan, rate, or mark a meal cooked.

Recipe-photo scanning

When you scan a recipe, your device creates a downsized copy of the photo you selected or captured and sends it to Weektable's authenticated scan endpoint. Weektable forwards that copy to Google Document AI for synchronous optical-character recognition in the United States. Weektable does not persist or log the photo or raw recognized text. If you use the editable draft and later save the recipe, the fields you reviewed and edited are stored under the ordinary recipe rules in this policy.

Usage and technical information

Recommendation requests and outcomes, meals planned or marked cooked, feature interactions, timestamps, a device identifier used for authentication and app security, other device/browser information, IP address, authentication and security events, diagnostic logs, and error information. We do not intentionally place allergy values, disliked ingredients, pantry contents, grocery contents, or recipe search and planning text into general usage analytics.

Information from other services

If you connect or intentionally use an outside service, we may receive account or transaction status needed to complete that request. Examples may include authentication, recipe discovery, nutrition data, grocery ordering, or an Apple-platform sign-in. Our authentication provider processes account identifiers and device information needed to secure sign-in, and may store a profile image you upload or that a connected sign-in provider supplies. The connection screen will identify other optional services and the information involved.

4. How we use information

• Provide accounts, household settings, weekly planning, recipe discovery, pantry, groceries, nutrition estimates, and Cookbook features.
• Apply dietary settings and exclusions, personalize recipe suggestions, and explain why a recipe was suggested.
• Calculate pantry availability, grocery needs, and nutrition estimates, and improve ingredient matching.
• Show the recipe-centric Friends or Global feed you select, calculate trending recipes from distinct cooking activity, review public submissions, respond to reports, prevent abuse, and enforce service rules.
• If you separately opt in, send product updates and app release news, surveys, or practical Weektable tips in the category or categories you choose.
• Secure, debug, maintain, measure, and improve the service.
• Comply with law, protect users and the public, and establish or defend legal claims.

Recipe recommendations are automated suggestions based on the preferences and activity described above. They do not produce legal or similarly significant effects, and you remain free to ignore, replace, or remove any suggestion.

5. When information is disclosed

We may disclose information in these limited circumstances:

• Service providers: vendors that provide authentication, hosting, databases, security, error monitoring, email, recipe or nutrition processing, and other infrastructure under instructions from Weektable. We require providers that receive personal information to provide protection consistent with this policy, applicable law, and applicable platform requirements.
• At your direction: for example, sending selected grocery items to an ordering service or publishing a recipe and creator credit.
• Shared-kitchen collaborators: after you accept a kitchen invitation, its members can view, add, edit, and remove shared planning, grocery, pantry, preference, and macro information. They can read the full recipe snapshot stored with each meal placed on a shared week, but kitchen membership alone does not make its private source discoverable or plannable. A friend connection by itself does not grant kitchen or recipe-source access; a creator must explicitly share a private recipe with that friend. A social block does not revoke shared-kitchen access; leave the kitchen or use its member controls separately when shared access should end.
• Friends areas: accepted friends may see activity and comments you deliberately share with the Friends audience. Friendship does not expose planning, pantry, grocery, dietary, nutrition, or kitchen information.
• Community areas: signed-in Weektable members may see information you deliberately share with the Public audience, such as an approved recipe, chosen creator credit or social handle, shared cooking activity, comments, and an eligible aggregated community rating. “Public” does not currently mean an anonymous, signed-out webpage.
• Legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law, investigate abuse, protect rights or safety, or respond to valid legal process.
• Business transition: as part of a financing, acquisition, merger, reorganization, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice requirements.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and Weektable does not currently serve third-party advertisements.

6. Service providers and integrations

Weektable uses service providers for hosting, account sign-in, databases, security, and related infrastructure. Weektable may also use providers for nutrition data, analytics, error monitoring, email, Apple services, recipe discovery, and grocery ordering as those features are enabled. Weektable does not currently send recipe-planning requests to a general-purpose AI model.

Recipe-photo scanning uses Google Document AI only after you choose a photo. Google processes the downsized image in its United States multi-region to return recognized text. Google states that synchronous Document AI content is processed in memory, encrypted in transit, not persisted to disk, and not used to train Document AI models; Google may temporarily log request metadata such as time and request size. When you use Share Recipe, your device opens its system share sheet. Weektable supplies the recipe link and accompanying text to the destination you choose; the destination service then handles that information under its own privacy policy. Opening a grocery-ordering handoff similarly sends only the information identified at the time you choose the integration.

We will update this policy and the in-product notice before materially changing which services receive sensitive information. Third-party services that you intentionally open or connect also operate under their own privacy policies.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain account and product information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We may keep limited information longer when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, financial records, public-recipe rights or moderation evidence, and enforcement of agreements.

We retain your communications-choice history while your account is active so we can honor your current selection and demonstrate when a grant, decline, or withdrawal occurred. It is included in your account export and removed through the account-deletion process, except if limited evidence must be kept for a legal obligation described above.

We aim to acknowledge verified privacy requests within seven calendar days and ordinarily complete access, export, correction, or deletion requests within seven calendar days. Complex requests may take longer where permitted by law, and we will explain the delay. Deleted information may remain temporarily in restricted backups until their routine expiration.

When an account is deleted, Weektable removes that member's shared activities, comments, ratings, public and private recipes, and recipe copies embedded in other members' saved weeks. We may preserve only limited moderation or legal evidence needed to resolve an existing report, rights dispute, safety issue, or legal obligation, as described in this policy.

When a creator confirms removal of a private recipe from their Cookbook, Weektable hides the source immediately and marks it for deletion. Physical deletion waits until an active or suspended creator account no longer has it saved, no current or future planned meal in any kitchen uses it, no publication is active, and no cooking action using it remains in the retained undo history. Past meal history alone does not delay deletion and may remain as an embedded historical snapshot. The creator can cancel the request by saving the source again before physical deletion. Completed review records may remain as described above.

Leaving or being removed from a shared kitchen ends access to that kitchen's plans and the recipe snapshots stored with its meals. It does not change your personal Cookbook, ratings, “Never recommend” choices, or private recipe source access. Ordinary kitchen departure does not delete content already added for the group, but deleting your Weektable account removes recipes and other user-generated content you authored. If an owner deletes their account, Weektable may retain the shared kitchen itself for the oldest remaining non-closed member to manage while removing the deleting owner's content. If no member remains, the shared kitchen and its private planning data are deleted. A private recipe source is discoverable and plannable only by its creator, an eligible friend the creator explicitly selected, or everyone after public approval. A complete recipe snapshot stored with a shared-week meal remains visible to that kitchen's members for that occurrence without granting source access.

Declined and cancelled kitchen invitations and friendship requests are inactive and may be retained as needed for retry safety, abuse prevention, and audit integrity; they do not grant access. A social block immediately hides activity and comments between the two accounts and remains until you remove it or delete your account; it does not silently remove shared-kitchen access.

Signed-in users, including users whose planning access is suspended, can download a portable JSON export or start account deletion from Account & privacy. Weektable may ask you to verify your sign-in again before deletion. We may keep a limited, non-identifying record of a deletion request to prevent account recreation and safely complete the request. Deleting your Weektable data does not delete accounts you hold with other services.

If you use Sign in with Apple, Weektable asks for fresh Apple confirmation and attempts to revoke its Apple authorization as part of account deletion. If Apple revocation is temporarily unavailable, Weektable deletes the product data, keeps the sign-in identity in a closed state, and requires a fresh Apple confirmation to finish revocation and identity deletion; it does not silently skip provider cleanup.

8. Your privacy choices and rights

Subject to applicable law and appropriate identity verification, you may ask Weektable to:

• confirm whether we hold information about you and provide access to it;
• correct inaccurate information;
• provide a portable export;
• delete information or your account;
• withdraw consent for optional sensitive-data processing or disconnect an integration;
• independently turn optional “Product updates and app releases” and “Surveys and tips” emails on or off in Account & privacy;
• leave a shared kitchen, switch your active kitchen, or ask a kitchen owner to remove your access;
• choose whether individual cooking activity is private, shared with accepted friends, or shared with the signed-in community; delete your own activity or comments; block another member; and report recipe or social content;
• explain the categories, sources, purposes, and recipients of personal information; and
• appeal a denied request where applicable.

Both optional email categories are off unless you select them, and you may skip the choice without losing access to Weektable. Turning either category off applies to future optional emails in that category and does not stop essential account, security, privacy-request, or service messages. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Because we do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale or advertising-sharing opt-out currently required to use Weektable.

Send requests from the email associated with your account to isakknox@gmail.com with the subject “Weektable privacy request.” We may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity and protect the account.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information, including access controls, encrypted connections, managed infrastructure, and review of sensitive operations. No system can guarantee absolute security.

If a security incident affects information covered by notification law, we will investigate and provide required notices without unreasonable delay.

10. Children

Weektable is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Weektable changes. We will post the updated date and provide additional notice before a material change when required. We will not materially expand the use of sensitive dietary or health-related information without the notice or consent required by law.
